What is Ideal Protein ?

 

Ideal Protein is a four-phase medically designed weight loss program that focuses on sparing your lean muscle mass while preferentially burning fat. The average person loses approximately 1 – 2 kilos per week while on the first phase of the program, based on validated science for safe weight loss. At our clinics, you are under the supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioners  and a coach whom you will meet with weekly while on the protocol. During these weekly visits, your coach will track your weight loss progress by looking at your weight, body fat percentage, measurements, and reviewing your food journal. Beyond weight loss, your coach will work with you to achieve a healthier lifestyle by maintaining your weight over time.

How does Ideal Protein work?

The body has three sources of energy from which it draws to meet its metabolic needs: 

Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat

Chronologically, the body will first draw on its carbohydrate reserve before turning to protein and fat.

During the weight loss phases of the Protocol, we limit carbohydrate intake to encourage the body to turn to its fat and muscle components for energy.

By eating Ideal Protein high bioavailablity protein foods, the Protocol helps to support muscle mass and teaches you how to develop smarter eating habits and lifestyle choices, to help maintain your weight after weight loss is achieved.

The Ideal Protein Weight Loss Protocol is not a high-protein diet. It simply offers a variety of good quality, no GMO, no transfats and no preservative protein-based foods that are easily assimilated.

The Protocol is broken down into 4 Phases:

Phase 1 – To be followed unit 100% of your weight loss goal is achieved

The focus the first phase of this diet is on weight loss. In this phase, you will deplete your body’s carbohydrate reserves and transition it to utilizing your fat reserves and protein. Adequate protein consumption will protect your muscle mass and allow you to shed the pounds. In this phase, you will consume some Ideal Protein foods or drinks in addition to your own food.

Phase 2 – 14 Days

Now that weight loss goals have been met; you will begin this 2-week phase that gradually reduces the number of Ideal Protein meals you consume and begin increasing your calories by incorporating more lean protein (meat, fish, chicken, eggs, etc.) back into your diet.

Phase 3 – 14 Days

Phase 3 is a transition stage from weight loss to weight stabilisation. You will be reducing your breakfast Ideal Protein meal and you will begin reintroducing several of the complex carbohydrates (fruit, dairy, grains) that had been restricted. In Phase 3 you will gradually reintroduce certain complex carbohydrates and healthy fats, helping your body adjust to intake and immediate use of carbohydrate energy as opposed to storing it.

Phase 4 – Lifestyle Living

This final phase is simply focused on learning to live and eat properly. You will be taught how to self-balance carbs, proteins, and fats–to keep your body functioning and retaining a healthy weight. Ideal Protein is not merely about healthy food choices.

Phase 3 – Pre-stabilisation – Body Reset

To be followed for 2 weeks

  • 1 Ideal Protein food per day
  • Breakfast: Whole protein, Healthy Fat and introduction of Carbohydrates
  • Lunch: 230grams of whole protein
  • Dinner: 230grams of whole protein
  • 4 cups of select vegetables
  • Unlimited raw vegetables and lettuce

Phase 4 – Lifestyle Living – Freedom

  • Phase 4 is our structured approach to stabilisation and maintenance, also called “Lifestyle Living”. It is a 12-month stabilization period, with ongoing support to help you maintain your weight loss success.
